Some of you
may remember Jack Lynch from the USA who joined us on a few outings
in 2003 whilst in the UK. Below is a copy of his latest email and
some photos of his fishing activities Stateside.
"Martin,
thanks for the update. I love the big congers. Here are two photos
of striped bass caught on light casting gear last month in San
Francisco Bay. Stripers were taken by train in the 1890s from the
East Coast and dumped into SF Bay where they have prospered. A
genetic glitch has developed, however, which are the breaks in the
lateral stripes. We see some of this in bass that spawn in the
Hudson River but not fish from the Chesapeake Bay where about 80% of
the fish are born.
My host in Wales is Malcolm Williams who will return to Neyland this
summer with his wife. Maybe if he had your schedule of outings, he
might be enticed to join you for a bit of fishing in July or
