The
Cleddau Mustangs Western Dance Club was founded in 1997. We have
members from a wide age group, currently 9 - 79! The club's
choreographer is Jennifer Thomas. Jen has been involved in
linedancing for many years. For a time she ran several different
classes each week but work commitments have meant that these
classes have been consolidated into one very well attended regular
class at St John's Church Hall in Pembroke Dock.
In the past the club has had a dedicated juniors section and they,
along with senior teams and individuals have entered lots of
competitions with great success. Some photos of these events can be
seen in our photo gallery. We've also travelled to places like Breen
Sands for national conventions and again some great memories are
recorded in our photo gallery! The club has transformed into more of
a social gathering these days though. That's not to say things are
any quieter though! We have regular parties for various events which
are well attended and a good time is had by all. Although initially
the focus was on dancing to country music the club has diversified
over time and now dancing is done to all kinds of music including
modern chart music!
The club
has a close association with the Pembroke Dock Wado-Ryu Karate Club
due to the fact that Jen's husband is Graham Thomas who is Sensei at
the Karate club. For some years now the two clubs have joined forces
on an annual basis to raise money for charity. They always choose
local needy causes rather than national charities so that people can
see the direct effect of their fundraising efforts. See our
Charities page for details. |
