Working Conditions
It's took a long time to finally get on the air in 3C. Myself and Hans (the guy who took care of business on Jade when I was at home who is also a Ham) were given an old Icom-738 which was sat in an office gathering dust. This duly arrived after about 4 months of waiting.....things move slow in West Africa.

Anyway, when it finally arrived,

Hans dusted it down, rewired the PSU to work on 110V. I hooked up the helicopter beacon long wire antenna along with a morse key and was on air! Only problem was there was no microphone. So when I returned I took the stock mic for my Icom 746 and we were both on the air with CW & phone too. I love to work CW but am not so fast on the key, need more practice. However, I now consider myself quite proficient in CW since working many pile-ups :-)

The IC-738 is currently stowed in my cabin drawer on ZP, waiting for me to erect another antenna for it to push it's 100W through.
